Weekly Bonus for the week of August 30, 2009. Answers due on Friday, September 4 at the start of class.

Answer the following questions. Your answer must be clearly shown as must all of your work. Correctly answering the problems will result in 3 pts added to your point total for the semester. Remember: Bonus questions are entirely correct or entirely incorrect. No partial credit will be given. No protests will be heard. Have fun!

 

1. a) How many grams of NaI would be used to produce a 2.0 M solution with a volume of 1.00 L?

 

b) If you removed 55 microliters of the solution with a pipet, how many moles of NaI would you have removed?

 

 

2. What is the molarity of a 2.50 x 102 cm3 solution containing 45.0 g of C6H12O6 ?

 

 

 

3. a) How many grams of Sr(NO3)2 would be used in the preparation of 2.50 L of a 3.5 M solution?

 

b) If you were making 500 mL of the same solution from a 6M stock solution, what volume of water would you use to dilute the stock?
