Directions for purchasing a 1-semester access code for OWL.
If you used OWL last semester
1. If you have an access code from last semester, you can try logging in with it. If it is no longer valid, you will have to purchase a new one. You do not have to create a new account and login, but you do have to purchase a new access code to extend your OWL access.
2. Go to http://academic.cengage.com/owl/partners/thomson/epinThomson.html
3. Click on the book cover for the Chemistry and Chemical Reactivity 6th edition by Kotz textbook.
4. Under Online Study Tools, click the "OWL General Chemistry 1-Semester Instant Access Code" link and purchase the access code. You will receive your Instant Access Code by email.
5. After you have your Access Code, please follow these steps to register it and extend your OWL access:
Go to http://academic.cengage.com/owl and choose the type of textbook you use (General) in the red Log In or Register Here box.
Click your textbook name (Chemistry and Chemical Reactivity 6th edition by Kotz).
Choose Winthrop University.
Click the blue arrow under Student Registration and choose Chem 106 Spring 2008, section 001.
Complete the form. Be sure to enter the user name, login, and password that matched your previous OWL registration and your newly purchased code in the Access Code space. **It is very important that you do not create a new login name and password. To extend your OWL access, you must use your previous login name and password. Use the link on the login page to have them sent to you if you have forgotten.**
Confirm that your information matches the information on the screen. If no match is found or if the information shown matches a different student, go back to the login page for your school and click Email My Login/Password. Use the Login and Password that are sent to you to register.
Press Continue.

If you are using OWL for the first time for this course

Once your registration is complete, follow these log in directions for OWL
1. Go to http://academic.cengage.com/owl
2. In the Log In or Register Here Box, choose "General"
3. Then choose "Chemistry and Chemical Reactivity, 6th edition"
4. Then choose "Winthrop University"
5. Select "Chemistry Department User Login Page" by clicking the blue arrow.
6. Enter your Login and Password you entered when you registered for OWL and press the Log In button. If you ever forget your login and password, use the "Email my login/password" button.
