Course Description
SCIE 102X - Eagle STEM Seminar / Learning Through Community is a 0 credit hour seminar course designed to help prepare biology and chemistry scholars for the transition from high school to college.
Course Objectives
Learn tools for successful transition from high school to college.Interface with faculty and upperclassmen to learn requirements for students to excel academically.
Begin transition from student to scientist through technical and professional development seminars.
Develop sense of community and collaborative relationships.
Begin
to integrate into the Global Learning Initiative at Winthrop University.
Student Competencies
Demonstrate ability to problem solve through critical thinking.
Demonstrate collaborative and leadership skills.
Develop a gobal mindset for community service.
Improve
ability to communicate with diverse groups.

Grading: This is a 0 credit hour course. However, attendance at all seminars is expected as the seminar series has been designed to flow from one seminar to the next building a foundation for academic success. Students are urged to keep a journal noting key seminar lessons learned.
