Homework assignments:                   GEOLOGY 220 – Fall 2010

Links to the following assignments will be activated on the day the assignment is given (see schedule).  If you do not turn the assignment in during class, you may email the assignment to the instructor (bollingerm@winthrop.edu) by 5:30 pm on the due date, but it is your responsibility to monitor whether it arrived or not. No late assignments will be accepted.  The same grading rubric will be used for all assignments.  In general the assignments should be about 2 pages in length when completed although quality is much more important than quantity.  You must complete 4 or the following assignments, but you may complete all 5.  However, only your best 4 will count toward your grade.  Together the four homework assignments are equivalent to one test grade.

Assignment #1 –  Gulf Oil Spill analysis

Assignment #2 –  Fisheries data analysis (data provided by instructor)

Assignment #3   Fisheries crisis  (summary and comments on a DVD)

Assignment #4   Preparing for a Tsunami (creative writing with factual components)

Assignment #5 -   Hurricane data analysis (data provided by instructor)
